During a debate with Russian oppositionist Aleksei Navalny, former leader of the DPR terrorists Igor Girkin (Strelkov) claimed that the money and weapons for the invasion of the Donbas had been received in the Russian-occupied Crimea.
“I can say that I took weapons in the Crimea. In the same place I took very little money that I had. And as for the rest of the questions, I, as an officer, still depend on people who still continue to serve and fight, I simply can not and will not answer because the answer to this will deprive me of my officer's honor," Girkin said.
On the question of who exactly downed the Malaysian Boeing carrying the MH17 flight which crashed in the southeast of Ukraine in July 2014, Girkin responded, as before:
"I'll say the same as before. The militants did not attack the "Boeing" over the lack of funds.”
According to Strelkov, at that time, the separatists in the Donbas allegedly had only five "Igla" and "Strela-10" air defense systems.
Also, the former terrorist ringleader noted that he could not give other comments about the downed "Boeing", since he "did not participate in the investigation."
Strelkov claims that he left Donbas after he was put some "impossible conditions", and if he tries to return, he would allegedly be deported. The militant claims that he now lives on the salary of an employee and military pension.
