LVIV (QHA) -

The first antisniper facilities were sent to the area of the Antiterrorist Operation (ATO) in the East of Ukraine. This today, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko informed during a working trip to the Lviv region on April 20.

According to the head of state, it is important to preserve the lives of Ukrainian soldiers. He recalled that on 17 April a fighter from the 24th separate mechanized brigade, Lviv resident Mikhail Shozda, was killed by a sniper shot.

“That is why it is so important for us to develop cooperation with our partners, to strengthen our army, to supply new equipment. As they [the Russian-occupation troops - Ed.] learned that these complexes were located in the areas near Avdiivka and Shirokino, the intensity of the sniper fire was significantly reduced," he noted.

The president stressed that the authorities "will not save on the Ukrainian army and on the Ukrainian Armed Forces."

Poroshenko further noted that strengthening the defense capability includes not only the purchase of weapons, but also the construction of comfortable living conditions for the military. According to him, tenders for the construction of 77 hostels have already been completed.

“The essential thing, for which we must fight, is Ukraine's independence, which we celebrate 100 years this year. We do not celebrate the anniversary, we are building it now. Because the Ukrainian army is Ukrainian independence," the head of state said.

Earlier it was reported that the Verkhovna Rada registered the presidential bill No. 8297, which provides for the deprivation of Ukrainian citizenship for voting in the illegal presidential elections in the occupied Crimea
