Boris Gryzlov, Representative of the Russian Federation in the Tripartite Contact Group in Minsk stated that Contact Group for the settlement of the situation in the Donbas had confirmed the need to ensure peace and tranquility in connection with the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays.

“In this regard, and guided by earlier agreements, the group "reaffirmed its commitment to adherence to a comprehensive, sustainable and indefinite ceasefire starting 00:00 December 23, 2017," Gryzlov stated.

He also drew attention to the fact that the issue of publishing or resuming orders, including disciplinary measures for violating the ceasefire regime, had been raised again.

Gryzlov noted that the parties discussed the issue of exchanging prisoners of war before the Christmas and New Year holidays.

Earlier, Yevhen Marchuk, the representative of Ukraine in the working subgroup on security issues of the Tripartite Contact Group in Minsk, stated the conditions under which Russia would be ready to return to the Joint Center for Control and Coordination in the Donbas.

Meanwhile, 32 ceasefire violations by the terrorist groups were recorded in the area of the Anti-Terrorist Operation in the Donbas on December 20. The shelling resulted in the death of two Ukrainian servicemen and six more were wounded.
