The Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine may enter NATO Response Force as early as 2020, Volodymyr Askarov Lieutenant General, Military Representative of the Mission of Ukraine to NATO stated, as cited by Iryna Friz, the Head of the Subcommittee on Security of State Information Systems of the Parliamentary Committee for National Security and Defense.
“The Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine may enter NATO Response Force as early as 2020. NATO representatives also note the progress in the development of The Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. I hope that we will keep the pace of development, which will allow us, within 2 years, to integrate this kind of forces into the operational forces of the Alliance,” Askarov stated.
Earlier, QHA reported that the representatives of Belgium delegation in the NATO Parliamentary Assembly expressed their support to Ukrainian colleagues in the issue of restoring Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity. Damien Thiery, member of the Belgian delegation stated that Ukraine "is a strategic country". He also stressed that "Ukraine can fully rely on Belgium's support." Thierry expressed confidence that "Ukraine together with NATO will be able to stop Russia's aggression".
