KYIV (QHA) -

As of today, 300 persons are considered missing in the Donbas, the Vice-Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Irina Gerashchenko stated during a round table discussion at the Royal Institute of International Affairs, Chatham House, entitled "Conflict in the Donbas: Human Dimension and Influence on Internal Politics".

Gerashchenko further noted that Russia does not respond to the initiative of Ukrainian side on the transfer of 23 Russians convicted for crimes against the territorial integrity of Ukraine in exchange for Ukrainian citizens - political prisoners of the Kremlin.

“The first Vice-Speaker drew the attention of the participants of the discussion to the fact that representatives of international humanitarian missions cannot visit illegally detained Ukrainians in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine or in the Russian Federation,” the press service of the Verkhovna Rada reported.

At the same time, Gerashchenko stressed that the militants continue to make use of torture.

Reportedly, Ukraine will have a single register of missing persons. In addition, a Committee on Missing Persons may be established, the task of which will be to clarify the fate and whereabouts of the missing persons.
