(QHA) - Vice Premier of Ukraine Oleksandr Vilkul expects that the number of tourists traveling to Ukraine will double by 2022, Interfax reports.
As reported, at present, negotiations with the largest European and U.S. cruise companies are being held, to boost cooperation.
“By 2022 we plan to increase the number of tourists by two times, to 50 million people, and these are tourists who will come to us,” - Vilkul said at the second Kyiv Tourism Forum in Kyiv on Thursday, October 10.
He said that by 2022 the number of jobs in the tourism area should be increased by 2.5 times to reach one million, according to the plans of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
Vilkul also expressed confidence that tourism is a key sector of the economic growth of the country that also promotes the improvement of the country’s image in the world. He said that one of the tasks of the government in the area is the realization of the tourism potential of the country.
