JERUSALEM (QHA) -

The Israeli Foreign Ministry warned its citizens that they need to get permission from Ukrainian authorities before traveling to Crimea, according to the online version of the Israeli newspaper Haaretz.

The publication adds that the warning was issued after the government of Ukraine made a protest in connection with the unauthorized visit of an Israeli MP to Crimea.

“The entry into the territory of the Crimean peninsula by any other means, but through the territory of Ukraine, is a criminal offense under Ukrainian law,” says a statement published on the Ministry’s website.

According to the statement, the ban is not associated with danger within the territory of the State or part of it, but with the present diplomatic situation.
