Greece cannot host Crimean tourists as it contradicts the European Union legislation, Eleni Mihalopulu, Consul General of Greece in Moscow, told a press conference dedicated to the start of the tourist season 2016 as cited by RIA "Novosti".
- Currently, Greece can not deviate from the European laws in force, said Mihalopulu. The Consul also recalled that these laws were taken jointly, and Greece was part of it.
Russia occupied Crimea in February-March 2014, calling the rigged up referendum on March 16 the choice by the Crimean people to join the Russian Federation. Most of the world has not recognized Crimea as part of Russia. For Ukraine, Crimea remains the temporarily occupied territory.
