SIMFEROPOL / AQMESCIT (QHA) -

The self-proclaimed head of the occupied Crimea Sergei Aksyonov said that he intends to send an appeal to Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Kozak with request to regulate the cost of air travel to the annexed peninsula.

Aksyonov noted that he had already discussed this issue with the head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service Igor Artemyev.

“I will prepare an appeal to Dmitry Nikolayevich Kozak on the cost of air travel. Unfortunately, we are now looking at the sites of leading airlines for the cost of tickets for the summer season in the Republic of Crimea - in Sochi (flight Moscow - Sochi), two hours twenty-five minutes cost eight thousand rubles. Moscow - Simferopol (for the same flight duration) - 30 thousand rubles [about 496 USD- Ed.]. This is unacceptable and the situation will not continue this way," he stressed.

The "head" of the occupied Crimea went on saying that he would do his best to solve this problem.

“I will make every effort, I will talk with the heads of airlines, the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Nikolaevich Kozak. With Igor Yuryevich (head of the FAS Russia Igor Artemiev) we will join forces. There must be a fair price situation. Two hours and twenty minutes, the same duration of flight - there cannot be such a significant difference.”

QHA reported that in the occupied Crimea, residents complained about high prices and low salaries. Some residents of the peninsula say that because of the high prices in the occupied peninsula, one can survive only by having a vegetable garden. Simferopol residents say that 80% of the salary is spent on food only.
Earlier, the Kremlin-controlled Territorial body of Federal Statistics service in Crimea Krymstat stated that in 2017 the average salary of Crimeans increased by 6% compared to 2016.
