World-famous Ukrainian pole jumper Sergey Bubka leaves for Turkey for work. According to information provided by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Turkey, the legendary athlete and 10 members of his team during 5 years will work in Turkey to identify and train talented athletes, reports Turkish Hürriyet. Bubka and his team will work in in Izmir’s Coordination Center of the Athletics Federation of Turkey (Türkiye Atletizm Federasyonu Eğitim Koordinasyon merkezi). Under the agreement between the Ukrainian side and the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Turkey Bubka and his team will begin work in 2014. World- and European- record holder Sergey Bubka and his team will receive 5 million dollars in the framework of this contract. The total amount of funds allocated in Turkey for the development of national track and field athletics and swimming till 2020 amounts to 28 million Turkish liras ($ 15 million). Of these, 14 million Turkish liras are provided by the largest mobile phone operator company in Turkey Turkcell, and the rest – by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Turkey. Coordination Center of the Athletics Federation of Turkey in Izmir is a sports complex equipped in accordance with the best scientific and technical achievements in the field of sport and health. Its final construction works will be completed by 2014. The Center passed all kinds of necessary tests, and after its completion in 2014 will be accredited by the International Federation of Athletics and will become one of nine such sports centers in the world. In addition to the necessary sports facilities, the Center will have house laboratories for all possible tests for athletes, including doping control.
