Russia plans to hold competitions for its Paralympians as the Russian Federation national team was not allowed to participate in the Paralympic Games 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, according to the Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"Of course, we will support you and organize special events, where you will have an opportunity to present your skills. The rewards for the winners will be the same as at the Paralympic Games,” promised Putin at the ceremony of awarding the Olympic medalists in the Kremlin, as cited by RIA Novosti.

Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne (CAS) rejected the appeal of the Russian Paralympic Committee against the ban on participation in the Paralympic Games in Brazil.
