The Crimean Tatar national football team has arrived in South Tyrol (Italy) for Europeada-2016 - III European Football Championship among ethnic minorities and indigenous peoples held 18-26 June alongside the European Football Championship (Euro 2016).
24 men and 6 women's teams from 14 European countries are to take part in the Championship. The "Europeade" is organized with the support of the FUEN - Federal Union of European Nationalities (FUEN) - and is held every four years. The previous two championships were held in 2008 in Switzerland and in 2012 in Germany.
This is the first time the Crimean Tatar national team participates in the Championship, which was made possible due to the support of the FUEN, the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People and the Crimean Tatar Community. The Crimean Tatars are footballers from Crimea as well as the cities of Kiev, Lviv and Kharkiv.
The "Europeade" started with a great ceremony in the main square of the town of Brunico, which was attended by members of all the teams, officials - President of South Tyrol, Brunico Mayor, the President and members of the FUEN presidium, as well as other guests.
The Crimean Tatar team solemnly carried the national flag on the square along with the other teams.
As QHA reported, this is the first time the national football team of the Crimean Tatar people takes part in the "Europeade" - the European football championship held among indigenous and small peoples alongside the European Football Championship in France. PHOTO: QHA
