Verkhovna Rada has adopted the Law “On guarantying the rights and freedoms of internally displaced persons.”

Under this law, internally displaced person is a citizen of Ukraine, foreigner or a stateless person, who is on the territory of Ukraine on legal grounds and is entitled to permanent residence in Ukraine since being forced to leave their previous place of residence as a result of or in order to avoid the negative consequences of armed conflict, temporary occupation, generalized violence, human rights violations and emergency situations of natural or man-made disasters.

In addition, the Parliament has abolished the need for the registration of internally displaced persons.
