Deputy Head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Ilmi Umerov refused to participate in any investigative actions on his case, since he was left without adequate legal representation, the Deputy Head of the Mejlis said in the comments to QHA correspondent.
“Due to the fact that I have only one lawyer now - Eden Semedlyaev who is currently engaged in the case on rally of February 26 - I refused to participate in the investigation. They were to question me and lay a new charge, supported by new documents. The questioning was tentatively rescheduled for Monday."
Previously, lawyer Nikolai Polozov in an interview said that the repression in Crimea increased due to alleged attempts to sabotage the coming Russia elections in Crimea on the part of pro-Ukrainian Crimean Tatars. According to the lawyer, Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Ilmi Umerov may become the immediate target of the occupants and the "Court" will try soon to bring charges in the final version against him.
