During the first half of 2016, the population of Ukraine decreased by 102.4 thousand people according to the data provided in the State Statistical Service report.
The information shows that mortality greatly exceeds the birth rate in Ukraine. A hundred dead account for 64 infants. In the first six months, 299,807 people passed away in Ukraine and 190,754 children were born.
Moreover, the State Statistics indicates the increase in migration. In the first six months, 6686 people came to Ukraine for permanent residence, which is more than the number of individuals who left the country.
The data of the State Statistics Service do not include temporarily occupied territories of Crimea and Donbas.
