KYIV (QHA) -

Ukrainian news agency "Ukrinform" expands to the west and launches the French version of its site, which presentation took place on December 28 in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Information Policy (MIP) Artem Bidenko and French Ambassador to Ukraine Isabelle Dupont, according to the Ukrainian government portal.

Chief specialist of the MIP sector of the media communication Marina Sobotyuk told a QHA correspondent that this project was in the ministry plan for 2016. The French Embassy in Ukraine also participated in the launch of the version.

“We implement it in accordance with our plan of action, which was developed by the Ministry at the beginning of the year. We planned the promotion and expansion of Ukrainian broadcasting to the west, in particular the introduction of Ukrinform French version,” Sobotyuk said.

The MIP representative has also told about the forthcoming launch of the UA/TV broadcast platform in France.

“Regarding the Ukraine’s multimedia platform broadcasting to foreign countries: the UA/TV TV channel does not cover France, but now we are negotiating with cable operators. Starting next year, the channel will have new opportunities, broadcasting in France both via cable and satellite,” Marina Sobotyuk said.

As QHA reported earlier, the correspondent of Ukrinform news agency in France Roman Sushchenko was unlawfully arrested on September 30 in Moscow, where he arrived on personal business. In the evening on October 2, Russian media reported that Sushchenko was held in Moscow Lefortovo prison on charges of espionage. The FSB claims that Sushchenko is a member of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.
