Ukrainian movies screen in Netherlands for first time ever

The movies "Eleventh" by Dziga Vertova, "Russian Woodpecker" by Chad Gracia and "Winter in the fire" by Evgeny Afineevsky will be shown in the Netherlands.

As of March 31 to April 1, Amsterdam is to hold Days of Ukrainian Cinema Ukraine on Film: Way to Freedom, timed to a referendum on EU-Ukraine Association, reported the press service of the Ukraine’s Foreign Affairs Ministry.

- The concept of the festival – to screen the documentary films telling about the milestone events in Ukraine: from the classic silent films, such as a movie "Eleventh" by Dziga Vertov up to the hits of the international film festivals: "Russian Woodpecker" by Chad Gracia and "Winter in the fire" by Evgeny Afineevsky, according to a message.

The movies will be screened in Pathé Tuschinski, one of the main theaters in the Dutch capital.

April 6, 2016, the Netherlands is to hold a consultative referendum on the approval of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement. At the referendum the citizens will be asked a question, "Are you for or against the ratification of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement?"
