The UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD) has launched a regular session and plans to consider the Ukraine’s report, the Ukraine’s Presidential Commissioner on the Affairs of the Crimean Tatar People reported on Facebook.

On August, 11-12 the CERD Members are due to discuss how Ukraine fulfills the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination. The CERD wants to learn about the measures against discrimination of Crimean Tatars, reads the report.

Ukraine is obliged to report on the following:

- The implementation of the Verkhovna Rada’s resolutions as of 20.03.2014 №1140-VII “The Verkhovna Rada’s statement on the guarantees of the rights of the Crimean Tatar people as a part of the Ukrainian state" and the mechanisms of interaction of the Ukrainian government with the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people (CERD / C / UKR / CO / 19 -21, 16);

- The measures to combat discrimination against the Crimean Tatars in the areas of housing affordability, health care, other social services, education and employment (CERD / C / UKR / 22-23, clauses 308-315);

- The measures taken in order that the indigenous peoples and national minorities can take part in the public and political life.
