Ukraine ranks third in number of applications submitted to the European Court of Human Rights in 2013, just behind Russia and Italy, the press service of Ukrainian Parliament’s Commissioner for Human Rights informs.
As reported, by December 31, 2013, the European Court had considered 13,284 applications against Ukraine, which makes 13,3% of the total number of applications (almost 100 thousand).
However, only 2% of these applications deemed acceptable to be considered in the court. Accordingly, 98% of applications were removed from the registry of cases.
Most applications that were considered in 2013 against Ukraine involve systemic problem of failure to carry out decisions of national courts.
