At a meeting of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Istanbul, a Ukrainian delegation presented the report of the volunteer group InformNapalm on the participation of 160 subunits of 75 Russian military units in the conflict in Donbas. The information was collected by volunteers for two years, UNIAN reports.
According to the report, a total of 165 incidents were recorded. Analysts have identified 45 land units of Russian army.
Most of the battalion-tactical groups for war with Ukraine were formed on the basis of motorized infantry units of the Southern Military District of Russia deployed in Abkhazia. They involve mostly contract soldiers with combat experience gained during the so-called anti-terrorist operations in the North Caucasus (Chechnya, Dagestan, and Ingushetia).
The experts also identified subunits from 12 Russia's airborne troops units in Donbas. Russian paratroopers took part in offensive operations (in Ilovaysk, Debaltsevo, Donetsk airport) with assault forces, or provided support for militants, the report says.
Russian security services are engaged in subversive activities and psychological operations in Ukraine. Now the Russian forces of special purpose are integrated into the illegal armed groups in Donbas.
