The organization “Türk Ocakları” slammed both Russia's ban on the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People and recognizing it as an extremist organization, according to a statement by the organization.
- A well-known representative body of the Crimean Tatar people, who was driven out from the native land by Stalin’s order, deported and exterminated en masse, is the legitimate owner of Crimea - the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People faces despicable manners.
We must protect the rights of our brotherly people, we must make efforts in the Republic of Turkey and in other countries, where the Turkish people reside, so that put an end to this lawlessness.
We, the “Türk Ocakları,” have always been next to the Crimean Tatar people. We strongly condemn the attacks of the Russian government and dictator Putin at the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People. We call on the international organizations to support the Crimean Tatar nation fighting for its rights.
April 13, 2016, the "Prosecutor of Crimea" Natalia Poklonskaya suspended the activities of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people in Crimea and claimed the decision will be valid pending the verdict by the "Crimean Supreme Court."
April, 15 a hearing in the Mejlis ban was adjourned until April, 25. One of the reasons was the absence of the Mejlis Deputy Chairman Nariman Dzhelyal.
April 18, 2016 the Ministry of Justice has put the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People on the list of public and religious organizations banned due to extremist activities.
