June 20, during the first half of the hearing on the case against Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Akhtem Chyigoz, the witness of the defense Sergei Tsekov was questioned, who on February 26, 2014 was a deputy of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, lawyer Nikolai Polozov said in his video message, as cited by the of Radio Liberty and Crimea. So, the Russian senator from the annexed Crimea did not testify against Ahtim Chiyhoz.

“Tsekov did not give evidence against Chiygoz. He said that he did not know anything about the activities of Chiygoz: the organization of a criminal plan, about Chiygoz’s direct activities on February 26 near the building of the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea," Polozov said.

The defence intends to question another witness, also a Russian senator from the annexed Crimea, Olga Kovitidi.

Earlier, during the 127 court session on the case against the Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Akhtem Chiyhoz, the court granted the request for interrogation of two witnesses of the defense - Olga Kovitidi and Sergei Tsekov. According to Polozov, they could give evidence about the circumstances of the events that took place on 26 February.
