The so-called "Supreme Court" of Crimea continues trial of the Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Ahtem Chiygoz.

18 October 2016 11:10

Two "victims" have been heard at today's hearing. According to the lawyer Nikolai Polozov, they have said nothing informative today. Noteworthy is that the second victim Ivkin was a citizen of the Russian Federation at the time of the rally.

Nikolai Polozov comments on the today’s court hearing:

12:20 - The interrogation of the victim Ivkina completed. Court session was adjourned until 14:00.

10:27 - The second victim Alexey V. Ivkin - member of the "people's militia."

9:39 - The first victim - Marina A. Postnaya, mother of I.A. Postnyi deceased during a rally on February 26, 2014.

Ahtem Chiygoz cannot attend the court hearing due to discriminatory provisions on the remote participation of the defendant in the 1st instance process.

Previously, the so-called court in Crimea made a decision to extend the detention of Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Ahtem Chiygoz until January 8, 2017.

September 21, the "Chiygoz case" - a trumped-up trial of the Mejlis Deputy Chairman Ahtem Chiygoz - took another twist following the evidence given by Vladimir Leontiev, the spouse of V.D. Koreneva, deceased at the rally on February 26, 2014. He said he does not blame Ahtem Chiygoz for the death of his wife.

The Crimean "authorities" decided to consider the case of the Deputy Chairman of the Crimean Tatar Mejlis Ahtem Chiygoz separate from the so-called "February 26 case."
