SIMFEROPOL (QHA) - As informed earlier, the Crimean Tatar Society for culture and mutual assistance (Ankara) and the committee of Muslims of Crimea have initiated and organized distribution of food parcels to Crimean Tatar needy families in Crimea during the holy month of Ramadan. Till the moment, the number of parcels reached 400. The parcels contain sugar, rice, tea, sweets, pasta, oil etc.
The parcels are distributed through Imams in different regions of Crimea.
A certain amount of money is also being distributed among the needy. Mostly the money is given for treatment of sick children.
Tradition to give out food and money to the needy during the holy month of Ramadan is very widespread in Muslem countries. It serves as a symbol of caring about one’s neighbor and helps to become more compassionate and sympathetic to the others.
Note: Sadaqa – is a voluntary charity in Islam during holy month of Ramadan. Money, food, clothing etc. is given out to the poor, orphans, travelers and soldiers.
