A memorial stone has been opened in Temryuk district, Kuban region, to mark the start of roads construction leading to the future Kerch bridge.
According to Rossiyskaya Gazeta, currently preparatory construction works are being conducted and three additional bridges are being built on the site. Under a plan, they will allow to work in any weather conditions from eight spots simultaneously.
The first bridge is longer than a 1 km and is expected to link the Taman side with the island of Tuzla. The road will pass through Tuzla Spit, the water furrows of which have been strengthened by a dam in 2003. 12 years ago, its construction caused a negative reaction on the Ukrainian coast. It was assumed back then to link the Tuzla Spit and the island, but the works have been held up.
According to the edition, 58 poles have been installed for bridge construction. It takes no more than 5 min to cross the bridge by a truck, while on foot – 15 min.
The new route is expected to go through the territory of the Taman Peninsula, east to west. It is to start in the area of the existing M-25 Novorossiysk - Kerch Strait road and end at the junction with a bridge across the Kerch Strait.
According to the Krasnodar administration, the works have started and more than 20 pieces of heavy equipment have been operating already: bulldozers, excavators, motor graders. The road is to be opened by the end of 2018.
"It is to provide stable freight traffic both from and to Crimea. In addition, due to road junctions, the new road will help to distribute traffic streams for them to bypass the settlements,” writes Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
- The total weight of steel structures, used while bridge construction, is more than 3.5 thousand tons. Now we can provide materials delivery for the subsequent construction stages. Today we proceed to the bridge construction from Tuzla island to the ship's fairway, and the construction of the third bridge from Kerch Peninsula is already underway, said the head of the special projects at SGM company Leonid Ryzhenkin.
Reminder: Putin ordered to construct the bridge across the Kerch Strait by 2018.
