The second phase of the large-scale command and staff drill of the Armed Forces of Ukraine "South Wind - 2016" will be launched on Monday, July 25, the Public Affairs Office of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
“The second stage of the command and staff drill ‘South Wind – 2016’ will be launched on July 25" with involvement of military authorities of strategic and operational-strategic level, as well as military units of all components of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” reads a statement on the General Staff’s Facebook page.
The military exercises will last for a week throughout the territory of Ukraine. They will include tactical exercises of battalions with live firing, as well as landing and raiding by units of highly mobile airborne troops, moving over long distances in a combined way to overcome water obstacles, performing flight-tactical problems, holding off the enemy air attacks and so on.
The General Staff also focuses on exercises related to organization of the territorial defense of the state, planning and management of forces and means in terms of the legal regime of martial law.
It was reported earlier that the large-scale international military exercises Sea Breeze 2016 were launched on the territory of Odesa and Mykolayiv regions on July 18. According to the plan, the participants will work out the interaction of the multinational task force, which will conduct the operation "in the crisis region" according to NATO standards with involvement of the Marines and special units of Ukraine, the US, Moldova and Georgia.
