Security threat shut down Netherlands Consulate in Istanbul

The Netherlands took a decision to suspend the work of the Consulate in Istanbul because of a possible terrorist threat.

Decision to shut down the Consulate has been taken due to the recent terrorist attacks in Turkey, reported the Foreign Affairs Ministry of the Netherlands.

- The safety of our staff and visitors is our top priority, said Bert Koenders, Foreign Affairs Minister of the Netherlands.

The citizens of the Netherlands, who currently are in Instanbul, have been advised to avoid visiting the area near the Consulate.

Consulate staff was evacuated and continue to work in the other place.

March, 19 in one of the main pedestrian streets in Istanbul, a suicide bomber set off a bomb that killed at least two people, another seven injured.
