Passed by Kiev City Council, a decree whereby all Kiev’s schools and kindergartens are to admit children of internally displaced persons off the waiting list, is being acted upon and its observance strictly controlled, said Anna Starostenko, Deputy Chairman of Kiev City Council, at an online press conference held at Segodnya Multimedia press center.

“Refusal to admit a displaced person’s child either to a school or kindergarten, even if the displaced person fails to provide some essential documents, is qualified as a violation. If a situation like this occurs, parents are advised to apply to district departments of education or contact me, “ Anna Starostenko stressed.

According to her, of the 10, 000 displaced person’s children enrolled at Kiev’s schools and kindergartens, 554 come from Crimea and nearly 9,500 are from eastern Ukraine.
