Mark Feigin, Savchenko’s lawyer, posted on Twitter the relevant statement, dated March 4.
“I, Nadezhda Savchenko, a Ukrainian, a citizen of Ukraine, declare a dry hunger strike starting 04.03.2016 before I return to Ukraine - dead or alive!” reads the Savchenko’s letter.
Savchenko also prohibited an autopsy from being performed on her body in the event of her death and demanded that it be handed over to her family intact.
“If I am alive by 09.03. 2016, I demand that I should be taken to the court session,” she stated.
As QHA reported earlier, the Donetsk Court denied the last word to Nadezhda Savchenko. The defence of the political prisoner will not appeal the verdict. According to her lawyer Ilya Novikov, this decision was taken by Nadezhda Savchenko herself.
