Russian soldiers refuse to cross the border with Ukraine and escort military equipment to the occupied Donbas, the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry reports.
According to the report, such refusals stem directly from the international results of the investigation into MN17 crash, released by international interrogators. According to the version of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT), the anti-aircraft missile system that killed 298 people was delivered from the territory of the Russian Federation.
“Taking into account the increasing understanding of the inevitability of punishment for war crimes, including complicity in criminal acts of Russian higher military and political leadership, a growing number of soldiers of the 1st Army Corps (Donetsk) of the RF Armed Forces are refusing to return to the temporarily occupied territory of eastern Ukraine and escort military equipment after their holidays (official trips) in Russia. [...] The drivers of the 9th anti-aircraft missile battery of the separate marine assault motorized rifle regiment Dmitry Zayats (Russian) and Vyacheslav Goncharov (Russian), being on a business trip in the city of Rostov-on-Don, refused to escort the repaired combat vehicles of anti-aircraft missile system "Strela-10M3" to the place of permanent deployment of their regiment (Novoazovsk),” the Ukrainian intelligence reports.
At the same time, the GUR reports that some officers of the RF Armed Forces arrived on the territory of Ukraine to support the militants.
“September 26-27, 2016, two groups of officers of the RF Armed Forces (about 40 people) arrived to the settlement of Krasny Luch from the staff of the Centre Territorial Troops (Novocherkassk) to assist in determination of new defense areas of the Russian occupation troops, as well as to act as mediators in the brigade and regimental tactical exercises,” reads the statement.
It is also reported that the command of the Russian Army continues to supply terrorists in Donbas with ammunition, weapons and other military equipment. It is noted that 5 wagons of ammunition arrived in the occupied Uglegorsk, two tanks and two anti-aircraft guns on platforms were delivered to the occupied Sverdlovsk, and a few covered and refrigerator wagons arrived there as well.
