Lawyer Nikolai Polozov visited the Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Umerov Ilmi, who for thirteenth days has been illegally held in a psychiatric hospital.
According to Polozov, the Umerov’s health state has stabilized. Due to international pressure, the Russian authorities and the hospital administration have become more attentive to Ilmi Umerov.
- Attention, attracted to his person, makes the hospital staff more attentive to his health. Now they send experts at first request: neurologist, internist, ophthalmologist, etc. At the same time we must understand that earlier under the investigator’s pressure Umerov was discharged from a hospital cardiology department even having not recovered yet. As for a psychiatric hospital there are no conditions provided for cardiac treatment. There is no appropriate specialist, medical equipment, Nikolai Polozov wrote on Facebook.
Today, Ilmi Umerov was visited by Deputy "Minister of Health" of the Crimea. She was interested in detention conditions and examination. Moreover, Ilmi Umerov was also visited by the FSB official Shevchenko, a former SBU employee. According to him, Ilmi Umerov will be held in a psychiatric clinic until September, 7.
- It is obvious that the Russian authorities hedge their bets being under the international pressure, he said. Polozov stressed there are no reasons for Ilmi Umerov’s stay in the mental hospital except of FSB’s ambitions.
Therefore, the lawyer urged the Ukrainian authorities to be more decisive speaking and taking actions targeting the immediate release of Ilmi Umerov.
Earlier, the US State Department made an official statement on the release of Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Ilmi Umerov illegally detained in the psychiatric hospital.
