Michail Chaplyga, a spokesman for Authorized Human Rights Representative, said that 18 Ukrainians, who are currently serving time in prison of occupied Crimea, will be transferred to Ukraine, according to RIA Novosti.
We expected the convicted to be transferred before the end of August, but it is more likely to happen in September, said Chaplyga.
The Ombudsman went on saying that the transfer will be possible after Russia settles all legal issues, which currently interfere with the transfer of the Ukrainian prisoners. So far, the issues are being tackled.
The Authorized Human Rights Representative of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Valeria Lutkovskaya and the Russia’s Commissioner for Human Rights Tatyana Moskalkova agreed to transfer some Ukrainian prisoners from the occupied city of Simferopol to mainland Ukraine.
