About 70 Russian National Guardsmen sent to the militant-occupied city of Debaltsevo are to abandon any attempts of terrorists in Donbas to desert.
“Russian National Guard unit (around 70 people) arrived in the city of Debaltsevo. The unit does not obey the commander of the 7th separate motorized rifle brigade (Debaltsevo) of the 2nd Army Corps (Lugansk), Russian Federation Armed Forces Colonel O.Bushuev, and is intended to counter desertion of RF Armed Forces in case of resumption of active hostilities,” the Chief Directorate of Intelligence of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry reports.
Ukrainian intelligence also spotted the deployment of units of the 1st infantry battalion of the 11th separate motorized rifle regiment (Makiivka) under the 1st Army Corps (Donetsk) of the Russian Armed Forces in the industrial zone of Avdiivka, as well as sabotage and reconnaissance groups’ activities.
The National Guard of the Russian Federation has repeatedly "pop up" in Donbas, according to intelligence.
On April 24, the Chief Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine reported that three Russian servicemen were killed and nine wounded in combat operations. Later, two of those wounded soldiers were transferred to serve in the National Guard of the Russian Federation.
