A meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Russia approved a draft law granting preferences to individuals illegally deported from Crimea, as well as their relatives, says a statement published on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers of Russia.

“Under the draft law, individuals illegally deported from the Crimean Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic or their relatives (grandmothers, grandfathers, fathers, mothers, spouses, children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters or foster parents) are entitled to preferences when applying for a residence permit,” says the statement.

Preliminary estimates put the number of such individuals at 40 thousand. When applying for a residence permit without applying for a temporary residence permit, they will not have to apply to courts, prosecutor offices or police for confirmation of deportation.
