On June 9, a graduation ceremony celebrating the accomplishments of the graduates from the Department of Crimean Tatar History and Culture was held in the Romanian city of Constanta with the support and initiative of the Democratic Union of Turkish-Muslim Tartars of Romania and the Department of History and Political Science at the University of Ovid.
The ceremony started with a speech by the Dean of the Department of History and Political Science Dr. Emmanuel Plopeanu. The First Professor stressed that this project is extremely important for the Crimean Tatars and the academic sphere of the city of Constanta as well. Plopeanu also voiced hope for a future close cooperation between the Department and the Democratic Union.
The Chairman of the Democratic Union Celil Esergep expressed gratitude to all project participants, the Department, Dean and the university as a whole. Esergep also reminded everyone of one simple but important truth that every nation needs to know its history.
In this academic year, the courses were taught by a post-graduate of Hacettepe University (Ankara) Metin Omer, who also delivered a short speech to the graduates - their former students.
During the event, the University of Ovid and the Democratic Union of Turkish-Muslim Tatars of Romania signed an agreement on the continuation of the course in the 2016-2017 academic years thus laying the foundation for even closer cooperation.
