Supported by the Democratic Union of Romania Crimean Tatars (RMTTDB) and the Romanian authorities September, 2-3 the Romanian city of Constanta hosted the International Festival of Turkic-Tatar national costumes, folk dances and songs.
As every year, on the first day all participants of the two-day celebration traditionally marched with flags, banners and being in a good mood. It is in this colorful crowd that the representatives of the Crimean Tatar Dernek carried posters saying “Free Ilmi Umerov” and “Where is Ervin İbragimov.” The aim was to support the Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Ilmi Umerov, who has been forcibly locked up in a psychiatric hospital, and remind everyone of the kidnapped members of the WCCT Coordinating Council, Erwin Ibragimov.
On the second day of the festival the participants commemorated the Rumanians killed in a horrific earthquake in Italy.
The festival was attended by folk groups from Ukraine, Turkey, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Lithuania, Georgia and Romania. The event was attended by the Turkish Ambassador to Romania Osman Koray Ertash, Consul General of Turkey, Ali Bozchalyshkan, Coordinator of the Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA) Hacı Ahmet Dashtan and other distinguished guests.
