"Qirim" NGO gathers Crimean Tatars at Simferopol central square

Crimean Tatars are gathering at central square of Simferopol. Among them a column of students of Crimean Engineering and Pedagogical University (CEPU) headed by CEPU’s rector Fevzi Yakubov.

The meeting, which gathered some of 500 people,  was attended by Crimean Tatar officials, among them deputy chairman of Crimean Parliament Remzi Ilyasov and head of State Committee for Interethnic Affairs and Deported Citizens Zaur Smirnov, deputy mayor of Simferopol Teyfuk Gafarov and advisor for Russian presidential envoy in Crimea Eskender Bilyalov.

The event, organized by newly created “Qirim” organization, is called “All Crimean meeting dedicated to the support for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Ankara.

“We, the participants of the meeting support the policy of Russian President Vladimir Putin and his official visit to Turkish Republic. We believe that Crimea will be a factor, for development of friendly Russian-Turkish relationships, in particular in trade-economical sphere”- reads the resolution.

Yesterday, commenting the today’s event, head of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov wrote in Facebook:

"Dec 1, on a working day, all the Crimean Tatar working for the government, I mean servicemen, teachers, doctors and students are rounded up to the central square of Simferopol. The purpose is clear: to record mass scenes for TV, ahead of Putin’s visit to Ankara, about “how good Crimean Tatars are living in Crimea”.

To recall, Russian President Vladimir Putin headed to Ankara on Dec 1.
