"DPR" militant convicted of kidnapping businessman

The militant kidnapped local businessmen and robbed ATMs.

The Oktyabrsky District Court of Mariupol sentenced the "DPR" militant to 10 years jail term in the city of Mariupol for taking hostages and torturing them, as well as the premeditated murder and impeding law enforcement authorities, reported the SBU press service.

During 2014-2015 a 27-year-old militant nicknamed "Dennis the young" was a member of one of the gangs of the so-called "DPR". For enrichment together with his accomplices they kidnapped local businessmen and robbed ATMs. The money obtained the militants transferred to a so-called "common fund" of the terrorists, the report says.

The Security Service of Ukraine reported that the gunman was detained in April 2016 in one of the safe houses, where he was hiding. The militant was imprisoned for ten years with all property being seized.
