BARNAUL (QHA) -

February 22, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation quashed the verdict to the activist Ildar Dadin, who was previously convicted under a repeated violation of the order by holding rallies (Article 212.1 of the RF Criminal Code), and recognized his right to rehabilitation. The oppositionist was released when the colony, where he was detained, received a sealed court order.

Reference: The international human rights organization Amnesty International recognized Ildar Dadin a prisoner of conscience. In November 2016, Dadin complained of torture in prison №7 in Karelia, where he was serving his sentence. Russian Federal Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice denied the facts on which the oppositionist informed in his letter, and later transferred Ildar Dadin to another place of detention for "security reasons." For some time, the location of the activist remained unknown.
