Today, on the 30th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster, the country leaders laid flowers at the Heroes of Chernobyl memorial in Kyiv. The event was attended by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman, Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko and Head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration Maksym Melnychuk.

During the ceremony, the officials laid flowers at the Heroes of Chernobyl and Warriors of Chernobyl memorials on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear accident.

After laying flowers, a column of fire-fighter trucks drove symbolically along the nearby streets in honor of the brave exploit by the nuclear accident liquidators. 

President also spoke with Chernobyl veterans present at the event, listening to their concerns and wishes.

April 26, 2016, Ukraine commemorates the 30th anniversary of the most large-scale man-made disaster in the history of the use of nuclear energy - the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
