Prayer held in house of arrested Ali Asanov

Prayer services are underway in occupied Crimea. This time, the Crimean Tatars gathered outside the house of Ali Asanov, a defendant in the February 26 case.

Crimean Tatars gathered outside the house of the Crimean Tatar activist Ali Asanov, who has been held in custody since April 15, 2016, the Commissioner of Ukrainian President on Crimean Tatars Affairs Mustafa Jemilev wrote on Facebook. The photo shows that several dozen people attended the dua.

On Friday, June 24, a prayer (dua) was held outside the house of the Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Ahtem Chiygoz in Bakhchysarai. His wife Elmira Ablyalimova, argues that strangers, probably the former representatives of the Russian special services, were watching the event.

Later, Ablyalimova wrote on Facebook that a representative of the "law enforcement agency" from the Police District Department came to her house and tried to present her a document on the inadmissibility of the household prayers.

On June 19, Crimean Tatars held a prayer service in honor of the missing member of the World Congress of Crimean Tatars Ervin Ibragimov in Bakhchysarai.  

Six persons are charged with involvement in mass riots during a rally that took place outside the Crimean Parliament on February 26, 2014. Three of them, Ahtem Chiygoz, Mustafa Degermenzhi and Ali Asanov, are being held in Simferopol’s pre-trial detention center No.1, while the other three, Eskender Kantemirov, Arsen Yunusov and Eskender Emirvaliyev, are awaiting sentence at home, being taken out on bail.
