Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has decided to confer the Hero of Ukraine title on all heroes of the Heavenly Hundred.
The head of state wrote this on his Twitter page on Friday.
“I have decided to confer the Hero of Ukraine title on all Heavenly Hundred Heroes,” Poroshenko wrote.
While communicating with the relatives of those killed and participants in the Revolution of Dignity at the Memorial Cross to the Heavenly Hundred Heroes, the president announced that he would sign such a decree today.
“I have made such a decision: today I will sign a decree conferring the Hero of Ukraine title on the Heavenly Hundred heroes,” the presidential press service quoted Poroshenko as saying.
Ukrainians call the victims of the street violence during the Euromaidan revolution the Heavenly Hundred, in reference to the people's self-defense "hundreds" who fought off riot police on the barricades.
