President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko named the AN-26 aircraft after lieutenant colonel Dmitry Maiboroda, the Ukrainian Hero and ATO participant.

The corresponding decree has been published on the presidential website:

"I hereby resolve to name after Dmitry Maiborodathe the aircraft AN-26 (tail number 35) of the Guards Transport Aviation Brigade."

Dmitry Mayboroda was the commander of the AN-26 crew from May to July 2014. He carried out 35 sorties transporting military weapons, material and technical means to the ATO area and evacuated the wounded and sick.

The pilot died heroically July 14, 2014 in Krasnodon district of the Lugansk region when his plane was shot down by "air-to-air" missile. To the last, Dmitri tried to control the aircraft and therefore made it possible for other crew members to evacuate and save their lives.
