Poland to finance modernization of border crossing points

Ukrainian MPs considered the bill No. 5074 "On the use of the Polish credit" at today's meeting on an abbreviated procedure.

The Cabinet of Ministers proposes to spend 400 million Euro loan from Poland on State Road and Transport Agency Ukravtodor, the State Fiscal Service and the State Border Service, according to a QHA correspondent in the Verkhovna Rada.

“The funds will facilitate significant improvement of customs and border crossings between Poland and Ukraine,” said the First Deputy Finance Minister Oksana Makarova at the morning session of the Verkhovna Rada.

298 deputies supported the draft law "On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine" On State Budget of Ukraine for 2016 " regarding the use of the of the Republic of Poland Government loan under the terms of the tied aid".

Makarova suggestted to send 68 million Euros of the Polish loan to Ukravtodor, 25 million - to the state fiscal service and 7 million - to the State Border Service.

The loan agreement between the governments of Ukraine and Poland was signed in the beginning of September 2015, during the visit of the previous Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk to Warsaw. Later, in 2016, the document was ratified by the Parliament.

The bill has been drafted for Ukravtodor and Border services to use credit funds raised under the contract for construction projects, reconstruction and repair of highways of the western region of Ukraine and further high-quality communication with highways of the Republic of Poland.

The funds will be spent on the development of border road infrastructure, construction of checkpoints and modernization of automated border control systems as well.
