As of 2017, compared to 2014, the total area covered with healthy productive vegetation in Crimea has decreased by 6.7 times, while the volumes of winter crop cultivation in the peninsula have decreased by 85% over the same period, according to the report of the Ministry on Temporary Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons.
This data was obtained using satellite imagery. According to the results of data processing, a gradual decrease in areas of Crimea covered with healthy productive vegetation was observed. At the same time, the weather conditions on the peninsula during this time were satisfactory and could not produce significant negative effect on the plants.
Reportedly, as a result of the occupation of the peninsula by the Russian Federation, the agro-industrial complex and the natural environment of the Crimea is characterized with destructive processes.
Earlier, QHA reported that the area of vineyards in the occupied Crimea declined to 30 thousand hectares, which is three times less than the 100 thousand hectares traditional for the Crimea.
