Orphans deprived of food and textbooks at Sevastopol college

Investigation found that the school’s administrative personnel withheld payment of RUB 700 thousand.

An investigation into whether a law on providing students with social support and incentives is abided by has been conducted at Sevastopol’s Menkov College by the prosecutor’s office in the Lenin district, reports the press service of Sevastopol prosecutor’s office.

“Investigation found that the college’s administrative personnel withheld RUB 23,000 intended to be used for purchasing textbooks and stationery for orphan students and students who receive no financial support from their parents,” says a statement released  by the prosecutor’s office.

It has also been found that the said categories of students did not get paid RUB 675 thousand meant to cover the cost of their meals.

“Following the investigation, the arrears were fully settled resulting in 19 students receiving compensation they were owed. Disciplinary action has been taken against the individual responsible for the misdoing,” says the statement.
