SIMFEROPOL / AQMESCIT (QHA) -

In the morning of December 12, in the village of Urozhayne in the occupied Crimea, security forces conducted a search in the house of the Crimean Tatar activist, Chairman of the Urozhayne Mejlis of the Sovetski district, and member of the regional Mejlis Ibrahim Osmanov. The Crimean Tatar activist Server Mustafaev reported on the incident on his Facebook page.

“A search in the village of Urozhayne of the Sovetski district, in the house of the Crimean activist Ibrahim Osmanov,” he wrote.

The public association Crimean Solidarity noted on Facebook that the search began at 7 am (6:00 Kyiv time).

“They are looking for drugs. The search is conducted in two neighboring houses at the same time. Ibrahim Osmanov himself was not at home. Order is being issued against the son of Ibrahim Osmanov, Rustem.”

Activists added that the reasons for issuing an order against the son of the Chairman of the Urozhayne Mejlis of the Sovetski district are not known yet.

The Head of the Central Election Commission of the Qurultay Zair Smedla informed that the search was completed. After the search the security forces took Rustem away.

“The search in the house of Ibrahim Osmanov is over, his son is taken to Simferopol,” he wrote.

The public association Crimean Solidarity page published a video where the mother of Rustem, the son of Ibrahim Osmanov, told the details of the searches. She noted that during the search the security forces did not show the warrant and did not explain the reasons. When detaining Rustem Osmanov they did not give any explanation either.

QHA reported that December 11, security forces in Bakhchysarai detained the Crimean Tatar Rustem Osmanov without explanation. He was taken to the police department of Bakhchysarai. Father of the detained followed the car of the security forces. Mother of Rustem Osmanov noted that the security forces did not call any reasons for detention.

Earlier, the representative of the international human rights organization Human Rights Watch in Ukraine Tanya Cooper stated that the pressure on the Crimean Tatars was intensifying in the occupied Crimea. She noted that the repressions of the security forces are connected with the criticism of the Crimean Tatars against the actions of the Russian authorities since the occupation in 2014. Cooper further noted that all persecutions are committed for political reasons.
