(QHA) - A service was held Sunday night in Niagara Falls to show Canadians are supporting anti-government protesters in Ukraine, reports Niagara Falls portal. The Horseshoe Falls was also lit in blue and yellow, the colors of the Ukrainian flag, though a Niagara Parks Commission spokesman said it was to honour Ukrainian culture. Supporters met at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church on Main St. in Niagara Falls Sunday night for a prayer service with a group of priests, both Orthodox and Catholic, from different parishes, said Irene Newton, one of the organizers from St. Catharines. Members of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress and the Ukrainian Canadian Students’ Union from universities across Ontario also attended. “We are praying for the situation to improve in Ukraine,” said Newton. After prayers, the group marched to the bottom of Murray Hill and over to the falls. At 9 p.m., the falls were lit up for about 15 minutes in blue and yellow.
