KYIV (QHA) -
Bringing new indictment against defendants in "Hizb ut-Tahrir" case under Article 278 of the RF Criminal Code "Violent capture power or violent deduction power" apart from charges of terrorism, is due to the political nature of Hizb ut-Tahrir, the lawyer of the Crimean Muslims Emil Kurbedinov said in his comment to QHA.

“I have not seen the indictment yet, but I think it will be considered from this perspective. They would initiate some kind of expertise, which is to say that the organization [Hizb ut-Tahrir -. Ed.] intends to establish a caliphate, and sooner or later they will overthrow the government. But when I ask them specifically what my client did to overthrow the government, no one can answer,” Kurbedinov explains.

The lawyer believes that bringing new charges, Crimean occupation judicial institutions to perpetuate the investigation.

“Looks like the "Hizb ut-Tahrir" case has little evidence, and few witnesses, because no one wants to be a witness in this category of cases. In order to continue the investigation, which has already lasted a year, they impute this article, allegedly due to the special complexity of the case,” he added.

Earlier, QHA reported that all Crimean Muslims charged in the so-called case of "Hizb ut-Tahrir", will be laid a new criminal article - Article. 278 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Violent capture power or violent deduction power."

Persons accused on this article are to be punished by imprisonment for a term of twelve to twenty years.

According to the lawyer Emile Kurbedinov, the case of "Hizb ut-Tahrir" already counts 19 prisoners and includes three criminal cases.
The first and the third cases involve four defendants, and six people are judged in the second. Another case is not legally filed, though five people are charged and kept in custody.
