SIMFEROPOL (QHA) - The Committee of Muslims of Crimea summed up the results of the charity action ‘Merhametlik’ (Mercy), which was conducted during the holy month of Ramadan. During the month, 309 thousand UAH have been collected. This money has been distributed among 68 people in need of urgent medical treatment. The amount received by each person depended on the severity of the disease. During the fundraising campaign great support was provided by Muslim religious communities throughout Crimea. The Crimean Tatar Society for culture and mutual assistance (Ankara) provided 120 thousand UAH. Five-year old Vilen has cerebral palsy. He can’t sit and walk. His mother Lilya Rustemova received 3 thousand UAH for treatment. “We are very grateful. It is the third time we come here for help and we are not refused”, she says. Mufti of Crimea Emirali Ablayev called on Crimean Tatars to take an active part in the campaign. “Today we handed out the money to people who need it. If we want to be one whole nation, one society, we need to provide all possible assistance to each other”, said the Mufti. Charity action ‘Merhametlik’ is conducted since 2009. Since its beginning, almost 1,5 million UAH were raised. A total of 331 sick children received the money.
